Physiotherapy in a warm water environment, tailored to you.

Aquatic Physiotherapy, also known as Hydrotherapy, is a specialised physiotherapy service offered at Restore Function Physiotherapy in Greenslopes, Brisbane. Delivered in a warm water environment, it supports safe, low-impact and effective rehabilitation. Each program begins with a comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, followed by the development of a personalised treatment plan and guided instruction to ensure correct technique. Ongoing reassessments are completed to track progress, with goal-driven outcome measures recorded throughout your rehabilitation.

Similar to land-based physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy is used to support the treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary and chronic conditions. It can assist in improving strength, mobility and function, while also helping to maintain capacity and prevent further decline. Our Hydrotherapy sessions in Brisbane are available as individual 1:1 treatments and are often used alongside land-based physiotherapy to achieve the best outcomes.

The unique properties of water, including buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure and natural resistance, allow for reduced joint load while still providing effective strengthening and movement retraining. This makes Hydrotherapy an ideal option for a wide range of clients across Brisbane, from those in early-stage rehabilitation to those managing long-term conditions. The aquatic environment also promotes confidence, independence and freedom of movement, supporting both physical recovery and overall wellbeing.

The Benefits

An initial consultation in the clinic is required prior to commencing Hydrotherapy. This ensures suitability through a thorough medical history, baseline testing of meaningful physical outcome measures, and the development of client-driven goals and an individualised aquatic exercise program.

We generally recommend at least two one-on-one Hydrotherapy sessions to help clients feel confident with their program. Following this, clients may choose to continue independently, with regular reviews for reassessment and progression.
