Miranda has been heading up the Medical Team for the second AFLW season, and it has been another successful campaign working with the Brisbane Lions. After making the Grand Final, it was heartbreaking to see that they again fell short of taking home the flag; but its been great to be back together for the Winter Series. The Lions final game is against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday the 14th of July, and we look forward to seeing a big crowd there.
It takes a special team of players and staff to achieve these results, and we are very proud to have the least number of injuries in the AFLW for the past 2 years. We have loved seeing the fan base and support for these determined AFLW players continue to grow so quickly, and can’t wait to support them through into the future.
RFPP has also teamed up with Coorparoo Football Club, providing all of their sports training and physiotherapy services. This has been a brilliant opportunity for us to share our experience and knowledge at a community level, and we’ve loved being behind the scenes to support the club through their season.
Miranda continues to work closely with Bond University on a quest to get quality evidence behind elite Women’s AFL. You’ll see our team conducting a range of musculoskeletal and skill tests in the clinic, and on the footy field, to help with our physical fitness and injury profile study.
We are excited to share that Miranda has been invited to present a Masterclass at the upcoming AFL National Championships on the Gold Coast, on a topic close to her heart: Preparing Females to Play AFL. Miranda’s wealth of experience in the men’s space as the Head Physio at AFL Queensland, and The NAB National Academy, equips her with the expertise to ensure the same excellence in sport medicine occurs in the women’s game. A great opportunity to share her knowledge, and contribute to the momentum behind developing AFLW’s profile.
