Miranda & her University colleagues have published a paper on low back pain (LBP) and lumbopelvic muscles in elite AFLW players.

LBP is a common problem in elite sporting populations and is associated with increased odds of lower limb injury esp in pre-season. Which may have negative consequences on performance.

Similar to previous research conducted on male football players, deficits in trunk and hip muscle size & altered function were found in female AFL players with LBP. With 58% of players reported having LBP in the last week, further research aimed at identification of modifiable factors in female football players is warranted
